Update: Baby Boy Berry-Martinez officially has a name! A source close to the family (don't you just love sources?) shared that Hal and Olivier have chosen Maceo-Robert for their baby boy. Apparently, Maceo is a nod to Olivier's dad, who was a Spanish boxer. It also means "gift of God", which bodes well with how Halle first described her pregnancy, telling CNN, "Thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it’s been a big surprise and the most wonderful.”
Big sister, Nahla, may also have been behind baby's name pick. On The Wendy Williams Show, Halle said, that every night she and Nahla "pray to God, and she’s so sweet. She says, ‘God please bring me a bunk bed and a baby sister.’ And I say, ‘I can do one of those things, I know for sure! The other one we have to keep praying on’ What do you say to her when she wants that and can’t understand why God’s taking so long, you know?” Sounds like Maceo-Robert is definitely a gift for the whole family.
The source also added that the couple decided on a hyphenated name because it's "great in both the US and in France", which makes sense for the international couple.
Previously Reported: While we were busy soaking up every ounce of sun Saturday afternoon had to offer, Halle Berry was busy giving birth to her newborn son! Sure enough, Berry and her husband, Olivier Martinez , became first-time parents on Saturday night. A rep for the actress confirmed the delightful new arrival to Us Weekly.
Baby boy Berry-Martinez joins big sister Nahla , 5, Halle's daughter from a previous relationship. Now, officially a mama to two, Berry made headlines when she announced she and Martinez were expecting together. Though she's not the first mama over 40 to announce she was pregnant, news that the now 47-year-old was pregnant sparked a heated age-debate. But it sounds like both mama and baby are doing just fine — which is really all that matters, right?
As far as names go, details are scant, but that doesn't mean we can't make some well-educated guesses about what Halle and Olivier might have picked! We're definitely feeling something French, since Martinez revealed though his son will be an American, daddy will still remain every ounce the adorable Frenchman he is. The best way to fuse the past and future together? Give him a French name his forefathers would love! Here are some names we love for their little guy:
