New daddy alert! Funnyman Jimmy Fallon and his wife Nancy Juvonen Fallon welcomed a baby girl on Tuesday, July 23. At first, mom and dad shied away from releasing the details on baby's name but last night on his show, Late Night, the first-time daddy let the world in on her name!
He said, "I’m the father of a beautiful baby girl. Her name is Winnie Rose Fallon and she’s so cute. She’s 5 lbs., 9 oz. Me and my wife are so happy." Not sure about you guys, but I love the name Winnie. I think it's classical but modern enough to make it in this day and age. Plus, there have been a few important Winnie's over the years that have made the moniker a household name.
Let's take a stroll back on some famous Winnie's, shall we?
- Winnie Cooper was the star of the show The Wonder Years
- Winifred "Winnie" from the movie Hocus Pocus (and who could ever forget the "Remember, Winnie, remember scene"? SJP's finest moment, if you ask me!)
- Winnie the Pooh (you were thinking it too!)
- Winnie from the play Happy Days (not the show)
Another reason to love it? It's a far cry from the outrageous and over-the-top monikers that we've gotten too used to seeing in the spotlight. Celebrities have started going a little overboard with their name choices (North West, Cricket Pearl, Blue Ivy, Kyd, Jermajesty... just to name a few), so it's refreshing to see a name like Winnie (or oven George) making reappearances.
More old school names we love for a little girl?
Kudos to the Fallon family on Winnie's name choice! Let's hope little Winnie has mama's looks and daddy's jokes!
