With a baby boy on the way, gearing up for first-time fatherhood isn't the only thing Josh Duhamel is getting ready for. The daddy-to-be told People that he's planning on getting his wife, singer Fergie , a push present for delivery day.
He told the mag, "Yes, I will be getting her a push present. I just don’t know quite what yet." I get it. Deciding on the perfect push pres is tough. Does she want jewelry? A spa gift card? A getaway planned for the future? Chances are, Ferg already has everything she needs, but it's still sweet of her husband to want to get her something to congratulate — and thank her — for carrying, and delivering, their little prize into the world.
So, what do other women think of the idea?
"I think it is more of a gift as a sentimental thing for becoming a mom. Like some piece of jewelry to mark the occasion type thing. I have lots of gifts like that that have a story behind it. I like it."
"For me, it's a reflection of a culture where everyone thinks they are to special. Yes, giving birth is amazing, beautiful and special for each couple. But women have been doing it for centuries, in harder conditions and without as many luxuries we have. Commercializing birth doesn't make sense to me."
"If my got me something I would be touched, but I absolutely don't expect it and would never ask for something."
"I seriously don't get push presents. In my opinion, hours after birth you wont care about anything but your new sweet baby — and getting some sleep!"
"I got one from my hubby with our last daughter but only because he was deployed when she was born and I delivered by myself, plus I moved our whole house, bought a new car, worked full time with 3 kids until he came home 11 months later. Out of our 3 kids, that was the only one I have ever gotten one for and I didn't even expect it."
Does he think getting a present on labor day a little overboard? Maybe. Josh jokingly told People, "You got Christmas, you got birthdays, you got Valentine’s, you got Mother’s Day, you got every other thing in between… I don’t know who came up with this push present idea, but I think it’s probably a female."
Regardless of who came up with it, I'm dying to know what Josh will get the Fergster! Probably a weekend getaway somewhere. (PS: We've got some tips below on where you can get some goodies for Fergie, Josh!)
Do you think push presents are a do or a don't?
