It’s a girl for three-time gold medalist Misty May-Treanor! The Olympic beach volleyball player, 36, and husband Matt Treanor of the Cleveland Indians, welcomed Malia Barbara on June 3. She posted a picture of her daughter on Facebook, saying, “We were so blessed to welcome this little lady in to [sic] the world…Let the adventures begin!!!!!”
This is the first child for May-Treanor, who confirmed her pregnancy in February to People. At the time, she expressed great enthusiasm at the prospect of becoming a mom, saying in an email to the Associated Press, “Matt and I are overjoyed and excited about the journey before us. We have been waiting to start a family and we feel blessed to finally have this little miracle happen.”
After winning her third consecutive Olympic gold medal, May-Treanor, who has been married since 2004, decided to retire and start a family.
“It’s time to be a wife. I want to be a mom,” she said after stepping down from the powerhouse volleyball duo she was apart of with Kerri Walsh Jennings (who is a mother of three herself!).
Congratulations to the new mom! We’re cheering for you.
Have you had a baby after 35? What was your experience?
