Earlier this morning Orbit Baby, Inc. announced a voluntary recall on certain G2 car seat bases. According to SaferCar.gov, the StrongArm Knob component on the G2 car seat base may detach or spin without tightening the base, preventing mom and dad from installing the car seat properly, posing a risk for baby.
The recalled models have the number ORB822000 printed on them and were manufactured between March 20 and July 20 of 2013. The batch number is as follows: A0840 , A0860 or A0880.
If you have the recalled model, Orbit will contact you to provide a free remedy kit, as well as repair instructions. If the car seat is not registered through Orbit, you can contact Orbit Baby Customer Service at 1 (877) 672-2229.
On their website, Orbit Baby Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, Joseph Hei, issued a video statement in regard to the voluntary recall. You can watch it here.
