Bouncing Back After Baby
The Bump - Fitness Expert: Lisa Druxman
When you’ve just had your baby, you might not be in the mood to lace up your running shoes or hit the gym. (Leg lunges…ouch!) The Bump’s fitness expert, Lisa Druxman, shares three simple moves you and baby can do from the comfort of your living room to target your arms, abs and legs.
Chest press with baby
Lie on your back, holding baby from beneath the arms so that you are face to face. Ensure baby’s head is stable. Supporting baby’s midsection, slowly push baby upward, extending your arms toward the ceiling and hold for two counts. Slowly lower baby back down. Aim for 1 to 3 sets of 10 to 15 repetitions.
Sit-ups with baby
A traditional crunch with your baby on your hips. Holding onto baby, raise your chest until your shoulder blades lift off the floor, then slowly lower back down. Aim for 1-3 sets of 10-15 repetitions.
Lunges with Baby Carrier
Stand tall with your abs engaged. Step your right leg forward and left leg back so that you have a wide distance between your feet. Inhale and lower straight down towards the floor by bending both knees. Your front knee should bend about 90 degrees and stay aligned with the ankle below it. Your back knee should lower straight down towards the floor. Exhale and push straight back up to the starting position to complete one rep. Aim for 1 to 3 sets of 10 to 15 repetitions on each side.
