so excited for our thanksgiving baby!
when my husband and i went in for my first ultrasound last week, i was still pretty nervous that a) there might not actually be a baby in there and b) it might not be ok. boy was it reassuring to see the little heartbeat flicker on the screen! we had thought the baby would be due closer to mid-november, but we were surprised and thrilled to hear the doctor say, "well, looks like you're having a thanksgiving baby!" we've already nicknamed the little bean "turkey" or perhaps more appropriately "gobbler" (since he seems to be gobbling up a lot of food lately). although i am still trying to hold back my sheer excitement and waiting to tell friends for the next few weeks, i am letting myself indulge a little. when we told my parents this past weekend, they obviously thought it was good to live in the moment as well, as they immediately insisted on buying me a maternity outfit and a pregnancy/newborn book to begin my mommy education. the first gift is actually pretty funny since i am only "showing" a little bloat at this point, but i am so happy that they are so happy (and only hope they will spoil our little one just the same). we're looking forward to soaking up these next few months before quite possibly the biggest (and most wonderful) change of our lives!
