My Proposal Story

Hy husband proposed to me exactly 3 months after we started dating. We had a long distance relationship since he was in the Navy. He was visiting me one weekend when he took me to a park. It was night time and he proposed to me on a swing. It was very romantic. I had two engagement rings because the jeweler didn't get my ring sized in time for the proposal, so he bought a cheap band from the mall. I wore it under it turned my finger green, then wore it on a chain until it turned my neck green. Finally I got my real engagement ring, and I have been flaunting it ever since! My ring is a square cut emerald with diamonds on either side with a white gold band. We picked the ring together over the Internet since we couldn't be together. He wanted it to be a surprise so he told me to email him a list of three rings I liked and he would choose one and keep it a secret. I wanted something different, so I picked a dark blue sapphire, a three stone diamond, and the emerald. He ended up choosing the emerald. I was so glad because it was secretly my favorite one. I liked it because my favorite color is green and his birthstone is an emerald. It was the perfect ring from the perfect man.

About Our Family
We try to be as eco-friendly as possible. We recycle and reuse everything we possibly can. Right now we are working on getting all of the plastics out of our kitchen, only using cloth napkins and paper towels, and converting to only all-natural cleaners in the home. We use cloth diapers and try to only feed our daughter organic foods. We try to only eat organic as well.
We have two rescue pets that we love dearly who pretty much own us. Our lives wouldn't be the same without them.
Our Wedding
Our wedding was on 10/18/08, which was exactly 6 months to the day after our first date. We didn't really have a theme, but our colors were white and green. It was totally DIY and my grandmother and my mom made all the food, including the cake. We had a traditional Christian ceremony on top of a mountain during sunset. Three of my friends read different passages during the ceremony. The first was a scripture, the second was a poem from SATC, the third was poem I had written. It was a really simple and small gathering. There is a lot that I would have changed about the day if I could go back and do it all over again, but considering that I'd planned the whole thing by myself in less than 3 months on a very small budget, I think we did a pretty good job.
