New House = New Baby <3
I am 25 years old with a husband and a newborn and a few animals to boot. I am a working mother who loves to cook and read and who has a new passion for excersize (Zumba). Life cannot get any better (that is unless I win the lotto :O) ). I am trying to go back to my alma mater, Stony Brook University to finish my M.A in English Secondary Education. I would love to talk to other mothers on the Bump, so drop me a line and I will get back to you as soon as I can :)
Working Mother
I am currently working in a bank as a teller. I am trying my best to provide (along with my husband) for my family. It is not easy in these times and I know, I KNOW, I should be grateful that I even have a job. However, I took this job as a temporary stint while I was going to school. I find mysef out of school now for the second semester in a row because I could not simply afford the private college I was attending. I was only taking 2 classes a semester and it was costly for a MA class. I have 6 MA classes done in this private college and I believe I had 4 more to go. That was including the 2 student teaching classes that I would have to do. My dilemma is; now that we have the baby I know more than ever I have to get my behind in gear and try my hardest to get into a college again to get my teaching degree. Problem? No jobs to be had as a teacher in the Long Island area. They have a few positions in the City but unfortunately I do not live close enough to the city to go there for a job. I know, I know, beggers can't be choosers and all; but to get up at 4 am to catch a 5am train into Queens, Brooklyn, or the Bronx for a job that has me working much harder for much less, to get back onto the train at peak hours to me is just silly. There are people cut out for that; someone single or not a parent. Me, not so much. However, Chris (DH) and I have been in talks about moving out of New York if a job situation did arise. It is a very difficult decision either way. Stay with the families here OR branch out on our own and go to a different state. Cost of living is lower in any other state, but you may not be making the same cash as you did in NY, it is a risk that needs to be taken. Ultimately, it will be based on whether or not we can afford to live on the island. Chris has a Corrections test coming up so if he gets that , we will stay. If not, we look to move on in the next few years.
