Our Picks for Kate Middleton’s New-Mom Wardrobe

We know y'all are going all sorts of cross-eyed just waiting for the Duchess to deliver her baby (when is her real due date again, anyway?) but we're thinking about the bigger picture here —  Kate Middleton's new-mom fashion! Since Lady K is going to need to make a few adjustments to her regal wardrobe (not that we don't love her looks, but let's face it: it isn't very kid-friendly), we took a first-hand peek at some stylish selections that will keep our girl looking totally royal while still looking totally mama. (I know, you thought it was impossible, but surprise! It's not.) Between baby spit ups, diaper blowouts and feeding time disasters, the Duchess is going to need a wardrobe that's versatile, comfortable and most importantly — baby-friendly. While we see lots of little Highness' in her and  Prince William's future, we're also prepping for tons of drool, burps and oh-my-god-I-don't-know-where-that-came-from stains. We took it upon ourselves (since, you know, Kate's busy focusing on her breathing and all) to round up a few of our favorite picks for Kate's new wardrobe. Here's what KitKat Middleton can stock her shelves with: What were your postbaby wardrobe staples?

Neck-Detailed Dresses

Why it works for Kate: For royal engagements, the Duchess can dress it up with fancy shoes, a clutch and accessories, but for a day as mum, she can pair it with comfortable flats and a cardigan. Spoiler alert! We can totally see her wearing this as she and Will leave the Lindo Wing with baby for the first time. It’s definitely an iconic look.
Why we love it: It says ‘Hey! Look at me. I’m a cute new mom.’ instead of saying ‘Oh my god I’m a new mom and I don’t even know if this is clean or not but it’s all I had hanging in my closet’.

Shapeless Sheaths

Why it works for Kate: Our girl loves her stripes — and so do we! The jersey fabric is easy to slip into and out of in case baby has a spit up while they’re on the go. (And yes, she can nix the hanky but hey! She might need it.)
Why we love it: These cotton dresses work whether you’re two weeks or two months postpartum, so you’ll totally get your money’s worth.
ASOS White Chocolate Stripe Dress With Bandana Detail, $76

Chambray Shirts

Why it works for Kate: No matter where she’s headed, Kate will look chic and fashionable with this on-trend top. It’s loose enough to give extra room where she’ll need it but fitted enough so she won’t be swimming in the fabric. Paired with a blazer or tucked into a skirt, she’ll be every inch as royal as ever.
Why we love it: Chambray shirts are a dime a dozen, so stock up. If baby makes a mess, it’s no big deal.
Topshop Casual Chambray Shirt, $58

Wrap Dress

Why it works for Kate: When Kate was spotted wearing this wrap dress during her pregnancy, we knew it was a look that would carry over to her first few weeks postpartum.
Why we love it: Your body won’t bounce back five minutes after giving birth. Even though you’re not pregnant anymore, slipping into this will still flatters your bust and your postbaby belly without making you feel too self-conscious.
Seraphine Wrap Dress With Tie, $79

Mid-Length Skirts

Why it works for Kate: No matter how she styles her outfit, a black skirt adds instant glam. Wearing it high-waisted will alleviate the pressure on her midsection and wearing it at the hip will show off her fab postbaby shape. (She hasn’t even had the baby yet and I know she’ll look great.)
Why we love it: For the days you don’t feel like pants, try this. You’ll look adorable even if you’re screaming ‘Help!’ on the inside.
Topshop Black High-Waisted Skater, $45

Loose, Flowy Top

Why it works for Kate: Even though she was petite throughout her entire pregnnacy doesn’t mean she’ll be back to the same shape she was before. While her body bounces back, this shirt will keep her feeling (and looking) her best.
Why we love it: This is just one of those shirts you put on and feel instantly fabulous in. Wear it to the park, on a playdate, or out on a date with your partner.
LOFT Zig Zag Imprint Pleated Back Shell, $55

Nursing Tank

Why it works for Kate: Even if she doesn’t nurse baby, a shirt with a little added space doesn’t hurt. When baby’s old enough and learns to tug and pull on mom’s clothes, she’ll appreciate the buttoned shoulders. (Leaves less room for surprises, too.)
Why we love it: It’s made for nursing, so you won’t have to worry about slinking off to the bathroom every time you want to nurse. Just unbutton and begin!
Seraphine Nautical Tops With Poppers, $38

Swing Dress

Why it works for Kate: The sleeveless, shapeless sheath will flatter her figure at every stage of her postpartum recovery.
Why we love it: It’s comfortable, classy, cute and totally baby-friendly. You can machine wash it!
ASOS Sleeveless Swing Dress, $30

Button Up Blouses

Why it works for Kate: The buttons tucked inside the hemming keep this shirt from looking too casual. The pop of color is also a cool touch for Cat, since she usually sticks to basics.
Why we love it: If you’re nursing, the easy accessability is a must. Plus, it’s cute and comfortable. A win for a baby and a win for mama!
Zara Jacquard Pattern Blouse, $50

Striped Jacket

Why it works for Kate: The Duchess is always spotted accessorizing her outfits with a blazer or trench. (Hey, it’s cold in London.) The striped detailing and the zip pockets will keep eyes off her postpartum belly.
Why we love it: As the cooler weather approaches, you’re going to need a coat to keep warm. Even if you take your time shedding the baby weight, you won’t feel too snug wearing this.
Zara Striped Jacket, $129
