Step Aside, Cake Smashes: These First Birthday Foods Are Way More Fun
Commemorating baby’s first year with an adorably messy cake smash has been rising in popularity for years now. But when we saw this first-birthday doughnut smash go viral, we wondered what other food smash ideas photographer Lyndsey Wright of Lydnsey’s PhotoCo was cooking up.
“I got kind of tired of cake so I ventured out to popcicles, doughnuts, and other sweets,” she tells The Bump. “Then I started asking parents if their baby had a favorite food. That’s where the BBQ smash came from.”
Wright prefers incoporating foods into shoots that baby is familiar with. “There aren’t tears of fear and things get much messier,” she says.
If baby likes tacos, avocados or ice cream, get your wet wipes ready. Here are some of Wright’s first-birthday smashes. Take a look!
This fiesta-themed birthday set the perfect scene for a taco smash. (Our question: was guac extra?)
Avocado mask or avocado smash?
Here, baby got marinated in some BBQ sauce.
This ice cream smash puts the cherry on top of baby’s first birthday.
And Wright’s not the only one onto this trend. Thanks to Julia Marie Photography, one luckly little girl got to have a Taco Bell smash.
