She’ll Snapchat her stretch marks and tweet about her weight gain, but Chrissy Teigen won’t bare it all for the camera just yet. And her self-declared lack of confidence in her postbaby body makes her more relatable than ever.
“Every shoot I have right now, I request all one-pieces please or anything high-waisted,” Teigen, mom to 5-month-old Luna, tells PEOPLE. “I’m still definitely not comfortable. I think I’m fine in clothes. But am I comfortable naked or in a bikini? Not exactly yet.”
In a perfect world, everyone—moms or otherwise—would embrace the new figure that comes with a new baby. But when you’re confronted with a sagging belly that didn’t used to be there, you’re almost guaranteed to feel a little self-conscious.
Perhaps blogger Laura Mazza puts it best:
“I miss [my pre-baby] body, it makes me sad,” she wrote earlier this month. “But I want to get there in a healthy way, mentally and physically. I want to be proud and at peace with this body. And I want to like what I've got now.”
Teigen’s solution for conjuring up some confidence? Dressing the part.
“I really just try to wear things that make me feel a little more confident,” she says, citing dresses, pencil skirts and tailored trousers.
While we empathize with Teigen's postpartum plight, we'd also like to remind her this is what she looked like less than a month after giving birth.
