DaVinci is expanding their recall of several crib models due to entrapment hazards, the CPSC announced today.
A metal bracket connecting the mattress support to the crib can break, creating a gap or an uneven surface. This can lead to entrapment, falls, or lacerations from the broken metal.
About 6,000 cribs are affected, following 11,660 cribs from the original recall in July, including the Reagan crib (model #M2801), the Emily crib (model #M4791), the Jamie crib (model #M7301) and the Jenny Lind crib (model #M7391) manufactured from May 2012 through December 2012.
Manufacturer Bexco Enterprises has received five additional reports of the brackets breaking so far (following 10 in July), but no injuries have been reported.
If you have one of these cribs, contact DaVinci at (888) 673-6652 for a free replacement mattress support which includes replacement brackets. In the meantime, try to find an alternative sleeping arrangement for baby.
