You probably thought 17-year-old snowboarding champion Red Gerard was the baby of Team USA at this year’s Olympic Games. But Magee Womens Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh has a nursery full of days-old Olympians competing in the cutest events.
Last week, the hospital’s nursery staff handed out six awards to get families in the Olympic spirit:
- Strongest lungs
- Sweetest cheeks
- Longest eyelashes
- Most hair
- Brightest eyes
- Best napper
“For the patients and the parents, it helps them remember this very special moment that we have,” Jeff Hodges, chief nursing officer, tells TODAY. “It is really celebrating all our champion babies—we just thought it would be fun to include some competition in this.”
Have 10 minutes? The awards ceremony is worth a watch. Congratulations to the little winners—even if they did sleep through it.
