The rumors are true: the second royal baby is a girl!
Kensington Palace reported that Kate arrived at the posh Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in London, the same place where she gave birth to Prince George in 2013 (and where Princess Diana gave birth to Kate's hubby Prince William — talk about full circle), and gave birth at 8:34 BST.
The news was officially announced on the @KensingtonRoyal Twitter account.
Weighing in at 8 pounds, 3 ounces, this little girl took her time to meet the world. We've been waiting to see that official birth announcement on the easel outside of Kensington Palace all week!
Except for when she was spotted driving on Tuesday, the duchess has been out of the spotlight since her last official public appearance in South London on March 27, when she and husband Prince William visited several South London charity centers. But her time in the spotlight was as fashionable as ever, and oftentimes, budget-friendly.
An official release from Kensington Palace announced the second pregnancy back in September, stating that "The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news." We can only imagine how much more elated they are now that the heir has actually made her entrance into the world — especially Kate, who suffered hyperemesis gravidarum (severe nausea and vomiting) throughout her pregnancy, just like last time.
One thing we know about this baby already: she'll have some cool kicks. Kate was spotted picking up Leather Blucher booties from Zara last month.
No word yet on how nearly-two-year-old Prince George feels about his new little sister — think he'll throw a tantrum or gracefully accept his new role as a big sibling?
We'll report back on a name soon.
