Parents will go to all lengths to dress their kids in Instagram-worthy Halloween costumes. They’re even willing to drop a crazy amount of money for an outfit that’ll only be worn once.

But this Canadian mama is proving you don’t have to break the bank to lock in the look. All throughout October, Danielle Bevens is sharing homemade costumes for her two sons, and honestly, they’re some of the best looks we’ve ever seen.

It’s a tradition Bevens started last year, and she’s been bursting with excitement to show off what she’s cooked up for this year. She shared her first outfit on Instagram, explaining “typically, each costume is made for less than $5 and is usually made of stuff you can find around the house! So, with a lot of help from my hot glue gun, an old brown pillow case and a onesie I thrifted, I present to you, Toby the perfect porcupine!”

And she didn’t stop there. Toby also wore a Rubik’s Cube get-up made free-of-cost. “I didn’t spend a penny on this one guys! So cute and definitely an easy and inexpensive option,” she explains on Instagram.

Next up, she turned her oldest son, Noah, into an expertly tossed side salad, and he looks so cute, you can just eat him up.

Another costume took some inspiration from a cult classic holiday film.

“If you don’t get it, then you’re in serious need of a good National Lampoon’s marathon,” Bevens jokes. “This one required zero effort, Mother Nature rushing winter and a diehard love for Christmas movies. So, without further ado, I present you Toby, in his very accurate representation of Cousin Eddie!”

The amount of creativity some parents muster up for Halloween is pretty impressive. Check out this mom’s incredible 31 days of Halloween costumes for added inspiration.
