What This Spectrum Employee Did for an Overwhelmed Mom Will Melt Your Heart
Jessica Nash Donnahoo was having a day lots of moms can relate to. She spent her morning multitasking between cleaning, washing dishes and doing laundry, while also juggling the needs of her two young kids. Needless to say, when Robert Kinney, a technician from Spectrum, showed up to upgrade the family’s Internet services, he was walking into quite the scene. Instead of doing his job and running for the hills, he saw a struggling mom and decided to make things a little bit easier for her.
Nash Donnahoo’s son Sailor is 3 years old and was born with two rare brain defects and is blind. He’s often unable to communicate his needs to others and happened to be having a rough day, which wasn’t making things any easier for the mom. Luckily, their guardian angel was sent in the form of Kinney.
“When Robert walked in and started talking, Sailor ran to him and reached up. Robert didn’t seem bothered at all, and instead held my son off and on for the whole 45 minutes he was in our home,” she says in a now viral Facebook post.
The mom was able to catch a break, and could even fold the laundry free of any unexpected interruptions.
“It was a huge relief to this tired [mom],” she admits. “Robert could have walked in, rushed and left, but instead he saw a need greater than Internet and met it. That’s beyond customer service—it’s humanity at its best.”
In a few short days since the mom has shared her story, the post received more than 69,000 shares and 250,000 likes from others who join Nash Donnahoo in applauding Kinney for going above and beyond his job description.
“Robert deserves a raise, a promotion…something! He’s an asset to [Spectrum] and I will never forget his kindness.”
We couldn’t agree more. The story is yet another reminder of how small acts of kindness go a long way for a stressed out parent.
