It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

No, not the holiday season, but the next best thing: Target’s car seat trade-in program. The highly-anticipated program returns next month, and we’ve got the full scoop on everything you need to know to take advantage of this special offer.

The car seat trade-in officially returns in all Target stores from September 3 to 13. New to the game and not sure how to make the most of the moment? We’ve got you covered. The retail giant is accepting all types of car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats and car seats that are expired or damaged. Materials from the old car seats will be recycled by Target’s partner, Waste Management, and you’ll walk away with a sweet discount. Who’s better than you?

After taking part in the campaign, you receive a 20 percent off coupon to use toward a new car seat, stroller or select baby gear. The coupon is eligible through September 14, so you have the option to hold on to your discount for a bit if you don’t use it right away.

The beloved car seat trade-in program was first introduced in April 2016. Not surprisingly, it was an instant hit and Target has continued to amp up its efforts surrounding the campaign. Since the launch, the retailer has recycled half a million car seats and more than 7.4 million pounds of material. Add that to the list of reasons why we love Target!

Target isn’t the only industry giant brainstorming ways to help the environment. This week, Hasbro announced plans to phase out packaging from its products, with the goal to eliminate virtually all plastic packaging by the end of 2022.
