The Best Parenting Gadgets From CES 2015

PUBLISHED ON 01/13/2015

Thanks to the new items revealed at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), all of your parenting excuses have gone out the window. From precise and constant temperature tracking to a bottle that shows the proper holding technique, there's a device (not to mention an app) for every parenting need. Stay tuned; they'll be released throughout 2015.

Edwin the Duck

What it is:  An app-enhanced smart toy for story time, bath time and bedtime.

What it does: It doubles as a wireless speaker that reads and sings to your child, engaging them through stories and songs in the related app. Completely waterproof for bath time, Edwin also turns red if the water is too hot. He has you covered for bedtime, too, providing soothing sounds, a gentle glow and lullabies.

Why parents will love it:  Through an upgradable story library, this duck grows with your child. And if you don't have the gusto to make it through story time tonight, Edwin will provide all the enthusiasm your kids need.

Projected cost: $99

Baby Glgl

What it is:  A smart baby bottle.

What it does: Using LED indicators, this bottle lets you know if you need to adjust the angle to reduce air bubble intake, preventing indigestion and colic. And it syncs with a mobile app so you can see how fast and how much your baby is drinking.

Why parents will love it: It takes the guesswork out of feeding. You're only a human.

Projected cost: $100

TempTraq

What it is: A wearable patch that tracks your child's temperature all day long.

What it does: Using Bluetooth technology, the patch sends your phone real-time temperature updates for 24 hours. But you have to be within range — approximately 40 feet. Need to step away? The patch will re-sync within moments of reconnecting.

Why parents will love it: No more wrangling kiddos for a thermometer test. We really shouldn't have to say more.

SleepIQ Kids Bed

What it is: A mattress that monitors your child's heart rate, breathing and movement.

What it does: After collecting this data, it assigns your child a SleepIQ score so you can learn about their sleeping patterns. Plus, it glows (and alerts you) when they get out of bed.

Why parents will love it: Part baby monitor, part sleep trainer, this mattress might just solve all your nighttime problems.
