Woman Tries to Shame Working Moms and Twitter Fires Back With the Best Responses
No mother should be shamed for their decision to stay home with the kids or to go back to work after having her baby. It may seem like an obvious point to make, but there are still so many people who pass judgment.
It’s a lesson Lori Alexander, a mom herself, clearly missed. The woman took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the topic, and let’s just say, it was an extremely unpopular opinion with Twitter users everywhere.
“Should mothers have careers,” Alexander asks the Twitter community, while sharing a flow chart with ridiculous assumptions on the difference between working moms and stay-at-home-moms. As you may have guessed, according to Alexander, kids of working moms are at quite a disadvantage.
Some of the things the woman unfairly criticizes working moms for is their alleged lack of healthy dinners, failure to spend enough quality time with their kids and inability to be intimate with their partners.
Not only is the flow chart in poor taste, but she completely misses the mark. Both stay-at-home moms and working moms face their fair share of perks and setbacks, and they both benefit their kids in different ways. In fact, a recent study suggests having a working mom can even benefit kids later in life.
That said, Alexander’s tweet was completely uncalled for. To no surprise at all, people have fired back to call out the mom for her one-sided way of thinking.
One woman decided to “fix” the flow chart.
Another mom won’t let Alexander’s comment make her question her ability to be an excellent mother.
A daughter of a working mom even chimed in to point out all of her success in life is thanks to her working mom.
A fellow stay-at-home-mom also had an important message to make.
One Twitter user says is all, calling out the woman for being so narrow-minded.
Everyone’s situation is different, and all parents make the decision to work or stay home based on what’s best for their family. Before judging another for the choice they make as a mom, work on being an even better parent for your little one instead.
