When mom Michelle found out that she was pregnant with her second child in two years, one of the first people she told was Marysol Blomerus, the Cape Town photographer that documented her first son Aiden’s arrival via emergency c-section, in hopes that she would be available again.

Like with her first birth, Michelle went into labor early, and just like last time Blomerus was on hand to document the day through photos and video, compiling the two into her first birth film.

Set to a stirring soundtrack, her footage captures the raw emotions between mom and dad, from labor pains to the c-section. Whether it’s dad’s first time cradling his son Reece, Michelle’s first skin-to-skin contact with baby or the excitement of introducing big brother Aiden to his new sibling, Blomerus caught every not-to-be-missed moment.

Grab a Kleenex and watch the moving video of the birth day, then scroll through the photos below:

It’s almost go time as dad helps wheel mom into the operating room for the c-section.

Welcome to the world! Baby Reece Ezekiel is safely delivered and shown off to mom Michelle.

The proud dad gets the honors of cutting Reece’s umbilical cord.

Time for baby’s very first checkup: Reece is measured and weighed right after birth.

Sibling bonding begins as Dad introduces two-year-old Aiden to his younger brother.
