Irish names are my favourite to write about. I grew up hating mine because it was constantly being mispronounced as Doreen, but now I love it. I don’t hesitate to correct people every time!
As a content writer, Doireann researches baby names and writes their descriptions for The Bump, making sure to give parents the most accurate information about the meaning and origins of each name. She loves learning all about names from cultures all over the world.
Doireann studied English and History at Maynooth University before taking a Master’s course in Writing at the University of Galway. There, she studied writing of all kinds, including fiction, memoir, and journalism. She loves writing fiction in her spare time and hopes to be a published author someday.
Before joining The Knot Worldwide and The Bump, Doireann worked as a tour guide at different heritage sites in Ireland, including Newgrange and the Hill of Tara. After completing her Master’s, she worked as a content writer and online sales assistant for the gift store Standún, writing descriptions of products for their website. She began working for The Knot Worldwide and The Bump in March 2022, and loves writing and learning about all things babies and weddings.
