The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled about 76,000 Infant Bed-Side Sleepers from Arm’s Reach Concepts late last night due to potential entrapment, suffocation and falling hazards. There have been ten reported incidents of infants falling from the raised mattress into the base of the sleeper or becoming trapped between the mattress edge and the side of the sleeper. This has happened when the fabric liner was not attached properly, or not used at all, and poses a serious risk of suffocation. The sleepers have been sold at Burlington Coat Factory and Babies ‘R’ Us, among other retailers.
This recall includes the co-sleeper (both the Original and Universal styles), where one side of the sleeper is lower than the other, which allows parents easier access to baby. You’ll find the model number on one of the legs of the sleeper, and recalled model numbers include:
Originals - 8108, 8133, 8111, 8112 & 8199
Universal - 8311
