Jimmy Fallon’s Hilarious Ode to Teachers Is Spot on
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and parents who have a newfound appreciation for teachers in this new homeschooling phase of life are taking to the internet to say thank you—including Jimmy Fallon. The “Tonight Show Host,” wrote a song about teacher appreciation and it’s pretty spot on.
Fallon, 45, performed the song on Teacher Appreciation Day, which was Tuesday, May 5. “Teachers should make a billion dollars and get more vacation time,” Fallon sang while playing the guitar. “They spend their days wranglin’ all our crazy kids. When they go out, they should get free bottomless wine.”
He later sang, “At the bank, they should throw money at them. And at Chipotle, they should always get free guac!”
The video is certainly resonating with tired parents and teachers, and one fan commented on the video, “As a teacher, I couldn’t stop smiling watching this. I 100% agree!” Another fan joked, “I’m gonna contact all my old teachers and apologize to them for being a little monster all those years. Heck, I got the time.”
Fallon has been self-isolating with his wife, Nancy Juvonen, and their daughters, Winnie, 6, and Franny, 5. The dad is no stranger to the challenges of homeschooling, and he discussed the topic on the “The Howard Stern Show” last month. “Home schooling is just—I don’t remember Spanish, I don’t know Spanish! I’m learning as they’re learning. I’m like, wow, I don’t know what that word is!” he said, continuing, “Right now it’s insane, I go between that and the show. It’s a lot. The whole day is packed. I feel like I’ve never worked this hard in my life.”
