It was an unusually brisk day in March on the West Bank of New Orleans, but that didn’t stop families from gathering at the Crescent City Family Services headquarters to participate in the Super Sunday Diaper Giveaway Block Party.

In partnership with 4Kira4Moms, a nonprofit committed to putting an end to the maternal mortality health crisis, and brand partners like Proudly, Territory Foods and Be Rooted, The Bump was able to assist in providing over $25,000 in giveaways to the Jefferson Parish community. The goal of Crescent City Family Services is to provide necessary support to pregnant women and families in the Jefferson Parish area who are disproportionately impacted by higher infant and maternal mortality rates.

Families from the community and the Greater New Orleans area came to enjoy the DJ, jambalaya and face painting and loaded up their new diaper bags from The Bump with baby care products, gift cards, journals, baby food and diapers.

With education and wellness at the heart of the event, attendees also had the opportunity to visit with community partners offering health and wellness screenings, COVID and flu vaccines and more. And in true New Orleans fashion, the Super Sunday event wouldn’t have been complete without a second line from the Kinfolk Brass Band and a celebration with the Mardi Gras Indians. The event was a testament to the power of community and the collective responsibility to ensure every family has what they need to not only survive, but thrive!
