Charissa

From ancient myth to poetry, Charissa is a name that has charmed many. Typically given to girls, Charissa is a variant of Carissa, and both come from the Greek Charis, meaning "grace" and "beloved." In mythology, a Charis was a goddess of beauty, human creativity, and nature, giving baby a strong bond with the wonders of the world around them. Charissa also has strong ties to classic literature, as Edmund Spencer used it in the epic poem The Faerie Queene.
