Kandy

Seemingly simple Kandy is far more than a take on sweet Candy, steeped in Latin, Egyptian, and Greek origins. Derived from the Greek and Egyptian Candace, Kandy inherits the lofty meanings “glowing” and “Queen Mother” for the little sunbeam who now rules the home. From the Latin Candida, Kandy also has “whiteness,” “pure,” and “innocent” in its repertoire. Finally, Kandy is the anglicized form of the Sri Lankan city Kanda Udarata, meaning “land of the mountains,” granting baby a gloriously earthy place name and an optional nod to their ancestry.
