Yucatan

"If you're looking for a bold name that honors baby's Mexican heritage, meet Yucatan. This masculine moniker is shared with Yucatán, a Mexican state located along the Yucatán Peninsula. As for its etymology, Yucatan is said to be the result of a language barrier! According to legend, a Spanish conquistador arrived in the region and asked the local people where he was. While their exact response isn't known, it may have been the Mayan phrase tectetan, meaning ""I do not understand you,"" or yukutan, meaning ""listen to them talk."" The conquistador misunderstood, and so the region became known as Yucatán.
