Finding the perfect name for baby is a high-stakes endeavor. This is how they’ll be introduced to extended family, how they’ll introduce themselves on the playground and what they’ll answer to during every role call at school. There are so many things to think about when naming baby—and so many potential pitfalls to avoid—so it’s naturally a nerve-wracking experience for parents-to-be. To make the arduous naming process a bit less stressful and a lot more fun, The Bump has introduced a new tool: The Baby Name Matcher game.

Having officially launched on July 15, The Baby Name Matcher allows users with an account on The Bump to swipe through thousands of names to find “the one” that best suits their needs. And parents in our community are loving this interactive option; it’s seen over one million card swipes in the last month alone, with the average parent-to-be swiping around 130 cards. One user swiped 1,135 cards in a single session!

Ready to get your swipe on? Here’s how it works: You’ll start by selecting whether you’re looking for boy names, girl names or gender-neutral names. Next, you’ll be taken to a screen where you can choose different names. It works just like a dating app! Swipe right if you like the name, swipe left if you don’t like it and swipe up to “favorite” the names you absolutely adore. Each name card will reveal spelling, meaning and origin, as well as the sex the name is most often used for.

The best part? After swiping through 20 cards, the matcher will get a better sense of the types of monikers you prefer and will start recommending the names it thinks you’ll like most. Maybe you prefer longer names to shorter names. Or perhaps you like titles in a specific meaning category. Either way, the matcher will help you narrow down your list of options!

Want your partner to join in on the action? The Baby Names Matcher allows you to pair your accounts. That way, you can see the names you both like and love in the form of “matches.”

Get started making swipes of your own in The Bump’s Baby Name Matcher today. Happy playing!
