Infant Ibuprofen Recalled From CVS, Walmart, Family Dollar Stores Nationwide
Tris Pharma has voluntarily recalled infant ibuprofen sold at many national retailers because it may contain higher concentrations of the drug, which could pose dangerous threats for baby, a news release announced. Packaged under the private-label brands of three major retailers—CVS, Walmart and Family Dollar—the label on the recalled products says it contains 50 mg of ibuprofen per 1.25 mL.
There is a “remote possibility” the increased amount of ibuprofen could lead to permanent kidney injury in infants, Tris Pharma says. Other effects could include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, tinnitus, headaches or possible stomach bleeding. Reach out to your pediatrician if your child is experiencing any of these symptoms.
The product was packaged in 0.5 oz. bottles for the recalled lots including:
-
Walmart: 00717009A (2/19 expiration date); 00717015A (4/19 expiration date); 00717024A (8/19 expiration date)
-
CVS: 00717024A (8/19 expiration date)
-
Family Dollar: 00717024A (8/19 expiration date)
The packages are labeled with NDC (National Drug Code) numbers of 49035-125-23 from Walmart, 59779-925-23 from CVS and 55319-250-23 from Family Dollar.
