Perdue Recalls More Than 60,000 Pounds of Chicken Nuggets
Perdue Foods recalled 68,244 pounds of gluten-free chicken nuggets sold nationwide due to concerns over wood contamination, CNN reports.
The chicken nuggets were produced on Oct. 25, 2018, and have an expiration date of Oct. 25, 2019. The UPC barcode on the label reads “72745-80656,” and they were shipped to retail locations nationwide.
“The problem was discovered when the firm received three consumer complaints that wood was found in the product,” the Food Safety and Inspection Service said in a statement.
According to Perdue, only a “minimal amount” of packages are at risk of contamination, but it’s recalling all the nuggets made during the same product run as an added caution.
If you have the package of chicken nuggets in your freezer, you should throw it out or return it to the store. There hasn’t been any report of illness due to consumption at the time of this report, but anyone concerned should see a doctor.
