It is vital for a vegan breastfeeding mom to take a vitamin B12 supplement because this essential nutrient is only found in animal products. If you are vitamin B12 deficient, your milk will be too, which can lead to serious neurological problems in your baby. Vitamin B12 can be taken as a pill or you can consume it in fortified foods. Consult with your healthcare provider or a nutritionist to find out the best dosage for you.
