Your Baby Is 6 Weeks Old!

Time for your postpartum checkup! Your doc or midwife will check out your breasts, vagina, and cervix to make you don't have any infections and everything's healing properly. (If you gave birth via c-section, you've likely already had your first postpartum doctor's visit.) You'll also probably be given the okay to start having sex again...though if you're still not in the mood, there's no law that says you have to share this news with your partner!

What a sucker
Baby’s learning tons of adorable new facial expressions, like pursing her lips, raising her brows, and widening her eyes. The incredible cuteness is just a bonus, though — the really good news about these faces is that they’re her way of communicating in a form other than crying. She’s also discovering how cool it is to have fingers, and might even start sucking them. There’s no reason to worry if she does — at this age, it’s considered a natural method of self-soothing, not a bad habit. (And remember — her ability to self-soothe is directly related to your amount of uninterrupted sleep.)

To-do:

[tip]  Gently remind your mother (or mother-in-law) what “the doctor said…” when she starts to get a little too pushy.
