Gerardina is a variant of the Old High German Gerarda, enhanced with the Italian feminine diminutive suffix -ina. Its roots lie in the Old High German terms ger and hart, meaning "spear" and "brave" respectively. Some might consider it quite brave to put your art out in the world, which is what Italian composer Gerardina Trovato has done. She has had a flourishing career and has orchestrated arrangements for acclaimed artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Laura Pausini, setting this name up for quite the crescendo!
