Hyakinthos
hya-kin-thos,
hyak(i)-nthos
Origin:Greek
Meaning:Hyacinth flower, larkspur flower
There's a new little petal in your heart and home, and their name is Hyakinthos. A masculine title, Hyakinthos is the original Greek form of Hyacinthus, the Latin name for the hyacinth flower, aka larkspur. Distinctive in color and scent, the hyacinth is one of the most beloved spring bulbs. While hyacinths blossom wild in tropical Africa and the Mediterranean region, they also thrive when planted in other climates. If you're a student of Greek mythology, you may also recognize Hyakinthos as the name of the Spartan prince who was transformed into a flower by Apollon after his death. In the years ahead, when little Hyakinthos spots their namesake bloom, they might just want to pick it and give it to you!
