Leecia, likely a variant of Licia, traces its origins to an Italian form of Lycia, an ancient Roman stronghold in southwestern Asia Minor, now part of modern-day Turkey. This region was once inhabited by an influential demographic linked to Greece, where its name is possibly rooted in the Ancient Greek  λύκος (lukos), meaning "wolf."
