Lidiya

While Lidiya and Lydia have become feminine names, their origins lie in an ancient place. As the Slavic form of Lydia, Lidiya stems from the Greek title Lūdós, which once described individuals “from Lydia,” an ancient land on the west coast of Asia Minor. The inhabitants of Lydia, the Lydians, are credited with designing the first gold and silver coins. The earliest examples of retail shops were also found in Lydia, so those coins were put to good use! When it’s time for little Lidiya to earn pocket money and start a piggy bank, they might just prefer spending to saving.
