Melannie

Melodic Melannie has journeyed far to become the graceful name for girls we love today. Sharing French and Latin roots, Melannie ultimately derives from the Greek melaina or melanía, meaning “dark,” “blackness,” and “enigmatic.” Melaina was an epithet given to Demeter in Arcadia and referred to her dressing in all black to mourn and heal in isolation. Melannie is recognized by most, but this uncommon spelling gives ample room for baby’s unique personality to develop.
