Ovidia

Ovidia is a girl’s name of Romanian origin, taken from the Latin name Ovidius, from ovis, meaning “shepherd” or “sheep.” Like many other Romanian monikers, Ovidia, influenced by the Latin tongue, tells of the legacy the Roman Empire once left on Romanian land. Ovidia is also inspired by the Latin name Ovid, borne by a Roman poet whose magnum opus Metamorphoses would be a muse for the works of William Shakespeare. Ovidia may seem a little sheepish, but its origins in a name carried by one of the most lauded lyricists of Ancient Rome certainly say otherwise!
