Sutherland

Sutherland is a Scottish boy's name that comes from the Old Norse words suðroen and land, meaning "southern land.” A place name by tradition, it’s probably best recognized for a county in the Highlands, home to chambered cairns, standing stones, and other ancient remains. Given its fame as a family name, it’s definitely no surprise that Sutherland has made history in Hollywood, too. Canadian actor Donald Sutherland portrayed the charismatic villain Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games.
