CPSC Recalls Popular Cupkin Kids Cups and Pottery Barn Crib
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recently issued two separate recalls for the popular Cupkin Stainless Steel Children’s Cups and Pottery Barn’s Penny Convertible Cribs. Here’s what you need to know.
Why Have Soojimus Cupkin Stainless Steel Children’s Cups Been Recalled?
Over 346,000 Cupkin Double-Walled Stainless Steel Children’s Cups sold in pairs online at Amazon and Cupkin have been recalled due to a violation of the federal lead content ban.
According to Cupkin, after recently receiving feedback from consumer advocates and additional follow-up testing, the executive team discovered that the double-walled vacuum 8oz and 12oz cups may pose an unacceptable exposure to lead if the cup bottoms are mistreated. While the company stresses that the liquids in the cup are not exposed to lead due to the cup’s double-walled construction, any lead exposure is still unacceptable.
Since becoming aware of the lead components in the bottom of the cup, Cupkin has worked with the CPSC to issue the voluntary recall and has reached out to all known consumers who have purchased the item.
What Should I Do If I Have a Cupkin Stainless Steel Children’s Cup?
The CPSC recommends that parents who have purchased the affected cups should immediately take them away from their children and stop using them. You can contact Soojimus for a full refund at Cupkin.com.
Why Have Pottery Barn Kids Penny Convertible Cribs Been Recalled?
Sold in stores and online from September 2022-April 2023, Pottery Barn Kids’ Penny Convertible Cribs have been recalled due to a laceration risk. Pottery Barn explains on their recall page that the glue on the end panels of the crib was not consistently applied and a portion of the end panel could separate, posing a laceration risk. According to the CPSC, Pottery Barn has not received any injury reports from parents but has received two reports of the end panels separating from the crib.
What Should I Do If I Have a Pottery Barn Kids Penny Convertible Crib?
Parents who have purchased or have been gifted a Penny Convertible Crib are encouraged to stop using the recalled cribs and contact Pottery Barn Kids to schedule delivery and installation of new end panels for the crib and removal of the old end panels. Parents can also get in touch with Pottery Barn for a full refund at 1-855-801-9300.
