"Let’s show the innovation of fathers.”

Squatting down on the restroom floor and balancing his son on his legs to change his diaper has sadly become routine for Donte Palmer. Tired of the juggling act it takes to perform a simple parenting task, Palmer is calling on public bathrooms to step up their game in an Instagram post that is quickly gaining traction.

The snapshots on social media show the father struggling to change his toddler’s diaper, while the little boy is seemingly unphased by the strange setup.

“This is a serious post! What’s the deal with not having changing tables in men’s bathrooms as if we don’t exist,” the disgruntled father asks. “Clearly we do this often because look how comfortable my son is. It’s routine to him!”

Speaking on behalf of many fathers, Palmer demands this issue be addressed. “Let’s show the innovation of fathers,” he pleads.

Many have chimed in to show their support, sharing their diaper-changing war stories.

“Dozens of times, I have taken off my shirt to lay it on the disgusting stall floor to change my kid. Great post,” says a fellow father.

“I’ve said this for years. My kids are older now, but I carried blankets and jackets on road trips to lay on floors to change them," another dad chimes in.

One mother was quick to share her praise. “Love this! My husband carries just as much of the parenting weight as I do, and that includes running errands and public diaper changes. Unfortunately, he ends up changing the babies in the most awkward and inconvenient places, because he has no other options. Let’s start treating dads as equals in the parenting world and affording them the resources and support to be just that!”

Sadly, the changing table debacle is nothing new. A few years ago, a fed up father even launched a website with a map to help father’s find men’s rooms with changing tables.
