Kimpton Hotels' On-Demand Family Fridges Safely Store Your "Liquid Gold"

“No more pulling items out of mini bars, having awkward conversations with the front desk or worrying if the fridge in your room even gets cold enough to keep your liquid gold safe.”

As many people begin to explore the world again, more businesses in the travel industry are stepping up to provide necessary accommodations for traveling mothers. Earlier this summer, New York mandated that all airports have a dedicated, safe space for breastfeeding and Netflix star Emily Calandrelli and representative Katie Porter recently introduced a bill to Congress to make traveling through TSA with breast milk easier.

Now, Kimpton Hotels is stepping up to the plate to give on-the-go moms the resources they require. “We noticed a need. Parents were asking our front desk staff for a safe place to store their breast milk during their stay with us,” Kimpton Hotels said in a press release. “We knew we had to do something, so we’re rolling out our On-Demand Family Fridge Program.”

The program is designed to provide parents with peace of mind knowing that their breast milk can be safely stored even while traveling. According to Kimpton’s website, guests can have one of the hotel’s dedicated Mini Me Milk Fridges delivered to their room as a complimentary service just by asking the front desk.

In a social media post announcing the launch, Kimpton spells out their hope to make traveling easier for parents. “No more pulling items out of mini bars, having awkward conversations with the front desk or worrying if the fridge in your room even gets cold enough to keep your liquid gold safe. Having little kids is HARD and traveling (with or without them) requires superhero-level strength and planning. We hope this program makes things just a bit easier for the parents staying with us. We’re rooting you on, and we’re always here for you."

Unlike your standard hotel mini-fridges, which can be unpredictable when it comes to temperature, Kimpton’s Mini Me Milk fridges discreetly allow parents to store breast milk at the 40-degree temperature recommended by the CDC. Plus, the fridges are compact and can easily fit on a countertop within the room.

This isn’t the first time Kimpton Hotels has kept parents top of mind. In 2021, over 10 Kimpton hotels in popular cities across the US forged a partnership with upscale baby product company 4moms, allowing guests complimentary use of items like the breeze plus play yard and the cleanwater tub in their room.
