When Dancing With The Stars Professional Lindsay Arnold was pregnant with her first child, she struggled to transition her ultra-active lifestyle into something she was confident doing while pregnant. All of the information around what she could and couldn’t do was overwhelming, and existing programs didn’t seem to offer the specific insight and encouragement she needed.

So when the fitness fanatic learned she would be expecting baby No. 2, she was determined to do something different. After not finding the program or support she needed, she decided to create it—while pregnant with her little one. Enter The Movement Club’s new Pregnancy Program. Designed to “guide and empower women from weeks 4 to 40,” Arnold, a prenatal certified fitness instructor, leads a variety of 32 new workouts varying in length from 5 to 30 minutes long with her growing bump in tow.

The suite of workouts doesn’t just focus on teaching you what’s safe during your pregnancy. It goes above and beyond to address mom-centric concerns, suggesting exercises for everything from pelvic floor health to nausea relief and delivery prep. The program also contains trimester-specific informational videos that explain the changes going on in your body and what you might be feeling each trimester.

“There is so much to be said about feeling the community and support of someone going through exactly what you are going through, and that’s what I want my members to feel when they begin their pregnancy fitness journey with me,” Arnold told The Bump when asked about filming during her pregnancy.

“One of the biggest things I have noticed throughout both of my pregnancies is that not only does prenatal movement help me physically, whether that’s aiding in round ligament back pain, low back pain, sciatica pain, and so much more, but it also helps me emotionally and mentally.”

Within Movement’s Pregnancy Program, you’ll find a variety of cardio dance-based workouts that hit on Arnold’s choreography strengths, yoga stretch sessions, pilates previews and more. Across all of the Pregnancy Program workouts, Arnold puts a particular emphasis on core strength as she attempts to dispel what she believes is one of the most damaging myths around prenatal fitness.

“I think there is so much information out there about strengthening your core while pregnant, and I remember during my first pregnancy hearing things like ‘don’t even think about your core while pregnant there is no point,’ and I hated that. There is so much we can do to support our core and our pelvic floor during pregnancy, and I believe it is so beneficial, especially for our postpartum recovery,” Arnold told The Bump.

Even with the best prenatal workout program and empowering encouragement, Arnold understands that there’ll be days when you feel like there is no way you can move your body. Her advice, through it all—be gentle with yourself! “I think the biggest thing to remember is that anything you can do to give back to your body while pregnant is better than nothing. Even if it’s just 5 minutes of movement, it’s truly beneficial,” she said.

“Whether it’s 5 minutes or 30 minutes, the sense of accomplishment [after finishing a workout] is such a great feeling and always helps me with any pregnancy ailments I am feeling. Be gentle with yourself and proud of yourself for anything you can do to give back to your body during this time!”

After 38 weeks of workouts, Arnold and her husband, Samuel Cusick, welcomed their second daughter, June, into the world on May 3. As the new mamma takes a break to take it all in, you can still catch up with her on The Movement App.

Now through May 31, new members can sign up for a free month of The Movement Club’s Pregnancy Program through The Bump using the code TMCXBUMP at TheMovementClub.com.
