Of course, while all the Mother’s Day gift ideas on this list are winners, if we do say so ourselves, there may be nothing more special, more sentimental, more heartfelt than a gift made with your own hands. That’s why we’re also including a list of DIY Mother’s Day gifts, all of which are (relatively) easy and affordable. All they cost is your time, and really, who deserves it more than mom?

  1. As far as DIY Mother’s Day gift ideas go, breakfast in bed is always a pretty solid one—especially if the little ones lend a hand! (Or, at the very least, they can do the delivering.) Waffles, freshly squeezed OJ and some strawberries with whipped cream. Actually, can we come, too?
  2. Moms famously adore flowers, so you know what one might like even more? A full garden of flowers! Just make sure someone is helping out with this one, before one too many mudpies make their way into the backyard. (Alternative for an apartment: a flower box to hang out the window or a potted plant for inside the house, planted by mama’s little boy or girl with love.)
  3. When it comes to homemade Mother’s Day gifts, you can’t forget a painted pottery piece! While you can do it at home, you can also go to a local ceramic painting shop, like Color Me Mine, that’ll provide you with all the materials and they glaze your piece for you, too.
  4. Got a little one at home who loves to bead? Have them make mom an upgraded version of the Best Friend Bracelet: the Best Mom Ever Keychain. All you need is a key loop, thick string, letter beads and a few other embellishments (artist’s choice!).
  5. Another relatively easy one for DIY Mother’s Day gifts? A photo book, customized with pictures of the whole family. You can put together an affordable one at your local photo store, but if you have little crafters at home, you could let them put it together themselves. With construction paper, glue and yarn, it could be done in a cinch.

Mother’s Day Gift Basket Ideas

When it comes to Mother’s Day gifts, sometimes you don’t want to give mom just one thing. Sometimes, you want to give her a whole slew of presents! That’s where Mother’s Day gift baskets come in, and these days, they’re quite creative. From popcorn-filled purses to towers topped with lavender bath goods, we’ve lined up the best Mother’s Day gift basket ideas here, perfect for the mom who lives right around the corner or miles and miles away.

Two words: popcorn purse. The Popcorn Factory’s purse-shaped gift box is filled with white cheddar popcorn and flower-shaped gummy candies. And did we mention it’s shaped like a pink, bow-topped purse? (We did. But the cuteness can not be overstated.)

The Popcorn Factory Mother’s Day Purse Shaped Gift Box, $9, Thepopcornfactory.com

Is mom having the whole family over for Mother’s Day? Then a great Mother’s Day gift idea would be a basket that makes sure she doesn’t have to lift a finger—i.e. Wolferman’s Bakery Serving Tray. With dessert cakes, cookies, baklava and cinnamon swirl, to name just a few treats, it’s basically a fully-stocked bakery in a box.

Wolferman’s Bakery Serving Tray, $70, Wolfermans.com

Don’t want to go the food route with your Mother’s Day gift baskets? Tell your mom to take a load off with this relaxing bundle. It includes seven lavender-scented spa products, plus a few bath products, so she can go lay back in the tub. (If you’re a mom, too, feel free to order one for yourself!)

1 800 Baskets Denarii Lavender Spa Deluxe Gift Basket, $75, 1800baskets.com

Back to the sweet stuff: Even better than Mother’s Day gift baskets filled with cookies? Mother’s Day gift baskets filled with candy apples, each one designed to look unique and finished with a white bow. Even the boxes are pretty cute—look at the one that says “To The World’s Greatest!”

Mrs. Prindables Greatest MOM Petite Caramel Apple Gift Set, $40, Mrsprindables.com

And of course, on a list of Mother’s Day gift basket ideas, we had to include at least one healthy choice: Royal Verano pears, placed in an illustrated box with one pear wrapped in gold. (You can add a bottle of wine to this one, too!)

Royal Verano Pears, $30, Harryanddavid.com
