Balser
Origin:Swiss
Other Origin(s):Babylonian, Hebrew
Meaning:Bel protect the king
Balser is a masculine name and the Romansh form of the Babylonian title Balthazar. This moniker stems from Bel-sharra-usur, an Akkadian name that translates to "Bel protect the King." Though they differ slightly in sound, Balser and Balthazer will both remind you of the story of the Magi, or the so-called "Three Wise Men" who attended the birth of Jesus. Though the Magi are not named in the New Testament, an ancient chronicle mentions Balthazar as one of their potential titles. Balthazar is said to have brought the gift of myrrh to the infant Jesus, a fragrant resin often used in perfume, incense, and medicine. If you want to encourage your little one to see their faith as a treasured gift, Balser could be a perfect fit.
