Bumi is a gender-neutral name thought to have derived from the Sanskrit name Bhūmi, meaning "earth." Bhumi, or Bhudevi, is the personification of the earth as a goddess, and according to Hindu mythology, she married the third avatar of the God Vishnu. Coincidentally, or by design, Bumi is also a character in the animated fantasy action television series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Baby can grow up to travel far and wide; no matter where they go on the earth, they will always feel close to home.
