Cyril

Cyril is a boy’s name with Greek origins. This ancient name most commonly means “lord” and “master.” Cyril derives from the Greek name, Kryillos, and is frequently used in the Greek Bible to refer to God or Jesus. Cyril is also the name of many saints throughout history. This includes a 9th-century Greek missionary who invented the Cyrillic alphabet. Cyril has faded in popularity but was once commonplace throughout the United Kingdom, France, and the United States. Famous Irish poet, Oscar Wilde, also called his son, Cyril.
