Dimitrios

Dimitrios is the modern Greek spelling of Demetrios or the Latin Demetrius. All of these names have their origins in the Greek goddess Demeter, who was known as the goddess of harvest and agriculture in Greek mythology. With roots in Greek words da (“earth”) and meter (“mother”), Demeter translates to "earth mother," while Dimitrios means "son of Demeter," symbolizing a deep, nurturing bond between parent and child. When Hades abducted her daughter Persephone and took her to the underworld, Demeter's heartbreak was so profound that it caused the earth to wither, bringing about a great famine. Just as the goddess Demeter was fiercely devoted to her daughter Persephone, you too will love your little Dimitrios to the underworld and back!
