Though often treated as the short form of Katherine, it would seem Kaye represents far more than a saintly soul. More fitting as an elongation of Kay, Kaye is a striking gender-neutral name of Welsh origin closely linked to the Latin Caius. It's an adventurous journey but no mean feat for the namesake of Sir Kay— the fierce warrior and foster brother to King Arthur. Known for his supernatural abilities and faithful guardianship of the legendary King, Sir Kay was a figure of many shades, some darker than others. From this wild and complicated heritage, Kaye is borne, shedding its proposed meaning of "pure" for Cai's "rejoice."
